The New Fluger/Marrs RGS

The well known Marrs RGS {resophonic guitar simulator} is back in production.

Duane Marrs invented and built this instrument several years ago but had to stop making it when He became over loaded with pedal steel building and repair. Known literally world wide as the {cat-can}, this little guitar has been re-designed and now comes with an electronic processor installed internally that accurately reproduces the resophonic sound.

Two Models
The RGS comes in two models,the original lap steel size and a full size Fluger hollow neck.Both models use the same electronic/controls and both produce the same sound. The small guitar is for use as a lap guitar or it can be placed safely on top of a pedal steel and played. The bottom is covered with felt to protect the steels neck and body. The full size guitar is for traditional stand up playing with a neck strap. Please be aware that both models of the RGS have hardly any volume acoustically unless pluged into an amplifier as is the case with any electric guitar.

Appointments- - - White fret board with playing card suit markers, Sperzel tuners, polished aluminum keyhead and tailpiece, 24 inch scale, comes with gig bag {hard case available}

Lap Style List Price: six string $995.00___ Eight string $1195.00 Optional hard case $ 100.00

Specs for Lap style RGS

Body-Curly maple with high gloss finish in several transparent colors.

Controls-Mounted on top of the guitar are two tone controls for reso sound and one tone control for the lap steel mode. A selector switch for changing from reso mode to steel mode and a George L magnetic pick-up

Electronics-The felt covered back of the guitar has a removable plate unde which the processor and wiring are installed inside a cavity in the body. The small cover is another removable unit which houses two 9 volt batteries to power the processor. Battery life is about two hundred hours of playing time.

The controls on both guitars have a mode switch that switches between a steel sound in one position and the resophonic sound in the other position. There are also two tone control knobs for the reso mode and a tone control for the steel mode. The stand up guitar also incorporates a volume control knob.

When the guitar is switched into the reso mode the sound is exactly representative of a good sounding resophonic guitar. The volume level this instrument can produce is phenomenal. It is as loud as you want it to be with no feedback and is ideally suited for large venues and loud band situations. This electronic resophonic guitar will be heard as well as a telecaster and the sound is un-mistakably the realistic reso sound.

This guitar is based on my hollow neck design and is constructed of baltic birch laminate. The electronics are the same as the Lap style model with the addition of a volume control knob.
